Len Gibson On the morning of the Murchison Earthquake, Leonard was
carrying out his usual farm tasks.  He was sledging wood
near the house and most probably had returned to the house
for a cup of tea just before the earthquake struck the district.
He was killed when the slip covered the house.

His horses and the sledge, which he had been using, were
found subsequently covered with mud.
