Minnie Gibson, my mother, was at home on the family farm
with her Mother.  About a quarter of an hour before the
earthquake struck she went to visit their neighbours, the
Peacocks.  When the earthquake occurred, she ran outside
and saw her home across the valley engulfed in the land slip
She came out to Murchison with the rescue party, went to
Nelson and then to Blenheim with her father and stayed with
her Uncle, E M Gibson. 

She came back with her father when he returned to the district
My father came to the Murchison area to help with the reconstruction, met my
mother and they were married
