Leo Gordon Westbrook and his father were fencing on their farm in the
Maruia Valley.

After the quake they left to see how those at their house had fared. Leo
had left his coat at the fenceline and he ran back to get it. As he picked
it up, a slip came down and buried him alongside the fenceline.
